It is said that a company is no greater than the people who work there. I’ve had the opportunity this year to sit down with some of the amazing individuals here at Onevinn. Join me as we get to know more about who they are, what they do and what their experience is working here.
Welcome to One on One(vinn) - Karin Bui Källkvist
Niklas Allard is a Cybersecurity Analyst at Onevinn. He officially joined the Managed Detection & Response Team (MDR) in 2025 after finishing his internship there. The work Niklas does every day ensures the safety of our customers.
”In simple terms, I help companies keep their systems safe. I monitor security alerts, investigate suspicious activities, and look for signs of cyber attacks.
We also do something called threat hunting, which means we actively search for hidden threats that haven’t been detected yet. On top of that, we handle incidents, improve detections, and support customers in understanding risks and making the right decisions. “
Niklas is one of Onevinn’s newer members, his journey to get to this point has been both unique and inspiring. At 35 years old, Niklas left an 18-year career in retail to go back to school in 2023 for an education in System development.
When asked what motivated him to make such a significant change, he shared:
“What really triggered the change was a feeling that I wanted to grow, learn new things, and build a long-term career where I could develop continuously. Retail gave me a lot in terms of people skills and responsibility, but I was missing the technical and problem-solving part.”
Before taking on a role as Cybersecurity Analyst in 2025 Niklas completed his internship (LIA) at Onevinn, learning alongside the same team he is now part of. Onevinn accepts a limited number of interns each year, with the belief that the true value of an internship comes from quality, not quantity.
Curious about how Niklas first came into contact with Onevinn, I asked him what made him apply:
“At the beginning of my studies, a colleague from Onevinn came to our school and gave a presentation about the company. It made a strong impression, almost everyone in the class wanted to work there afterwards, and it became one of the main companies we talked about throughout the two years.
At first, I wasn’t sure if I should even apply for an internship. It seemed challenging, and I had the impression that it would require giving up a lot of your personal time. But in the end, I decided to take the chance. I got the position, and what I realized was that it’s absolutely possible to work here and still have a family and a life outside of work.”
When comparing his internship experience with that of his classmates, Niklas notes a clear difference. While some were mainly studying for certifications or working on smaller tasks, Niklas became part of daily operations from the very beginning.
“At Onevinn, it was different. From day one, you get hands-on experience and work with real cases, which makes a big difference. You also quickly become part of the team, and I felt very welcome from the start. That made it much easier to learn and grow.”
Onevinn is constantly evolving. To work effectively in cybersecurity, where new threats emerge daily, collaboration is key. Through specialist teams and cross‑team cooperation, knowledge and experience are shared across the organization.
When asked what skills have helped him most in his role, Niklas highlights communication:
“One of the most valuable skills I bring is communication and understanding people.
I think a common misunderstanding is that cybersecurity is mostly about sitting alone, working with code and technical systems all day. A big part of my job is understanding people, communicating clearly, and helping customers make the right decisions.
Another misconception is that you need to be extremely technical all the time. Of course, technical skills are important, but being able to explain complex things in a simple way is just as important.
So for me, it’s not just about technology, it’s about combining technical knowledge with communication and customer focus.”
Niklas is a part of the MDR team, one of the largest and most diverse teams at Onevinn. The team consists of both full-time and part-time members, working shifts in a secure facility, to ensure around-the-clock cybersecurity services.
It’s demanding work but according to Niklas, what he learns every day and the people he works with make it well worth it.
Niklas lives with his wife, two kids and a dog in a newly purchased house that they are renovating. When asked about what he does outside of work, he admits that time can sometime be limited.
“When I do get some time for myself, I enjoy playing video games. It’s a good way to relax and switch off.
I also like working out, even if I don’t always do it as often as I’d like. But when I do, I really enjoy it. It’s a mix of family life, gaming, and trying to stay in shape.
Oh, I almost forgot, I really enjoy playing disc golf (probably the best sport in the world).”
To end this interview, I would like to thank Niklas for taking the time to share his experiences on his journey and letting us get to know him a little bit better. It is never too late to make a change and take a chance. We here at Onevinn are very happy to have Niklas as part of our family and are looking forward to a bright future together.
